NACOGDOCHES – Think your home or business has the most festive holiday lights and decorations this side of the North Pole?

If so, you’ll want to enter the Nine Flags Festival’s annual citywide lighting contest sponsored by The Daily Sentinel. Cash prizes will be awarded in both the residential and business categories. Amounts will be $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place.

“The lighting contest is a great way for our residents to get involved in the Nine Flags Festival as they decorate their homes and businesses for the holiday season,” said festival chair Anderson Dolton.

“The competition is pretty stiff in some of our neighborhoods, but it is all in the spirit of the holidays and the festival. We encourage anyone who is decorating a home or business this year to enter the contest and, who knows? You might walk away with a little extra spending money for the holidays!”
Entry forms will run in The Daily Sentinel beginning Wednesday, Dec. 2. The deadline is Friday, Dec. 11. Judging will take place Monday, December 14, and contestants and winners will appear in the Sunday, Dec. 20, edition.
