Naca Valley Vineyard is a family business located about nine miles from Nacogdoches and six miles from the loop at 9897 FM 1878. The vineyard is surrounded by native plants and flowers, including wild muscadine grapes, honeysuckle, purple wisteria, and pine trees. A focal feature of the property is beautiful Pete’s Pond, where every evening at dusk ducks fly in to rest.
Buzz, the vintner, has made wine as an amateur since he was a teenager and has won many awards, including top wins from the statewide Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association (TWGGA) competition and the former wine contests at the Texas Blueberry Festival in Nacogdoches.
Naca Valley Vineyard’s winery is a unique facility that represents the grit and spice of East Texas in combining a modern design with vintage touches. The bar in the tasting room was constructed from the wood of an antique oak desk, complete with a large ink stain, that sat for years in Buzz's grandparents’ antique store in Jefferson, Texas. It was finished with reclaimed wood from a century-old home Buzz restored. Vintage-style ceiling fans complete the effect. The style is replicated at the entrance with two dramatic vintage wrought iron fixtures with grape leaf embellishments and an expansive deck for viewing in comfort under the large Sweet gum shade tree and the outdoor ceiling fans.
The tasting room is open Saturdays from 10-8 and other days by appointment. Tours can be made when staff is available. The facility is also available for small groups, clubs and organizations and the owners are happy to speak to your local club or organization about wine making and grape growing. You can also find Naca Valley's wines at several local restaurants and at the Nacogdoches Farmers Market.
