The Nacogdoches CVB is excited to announce a new program
Nac at Night: Outdoor Experience
For our kick-off event, we’ve enlisted our friends at the Nacogdoches Public Library and the A.L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport to offer a drive-in movie on October 10th.
The movie will be “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou” in conjunction with the Library’s “Big Read” event featuring the Greek mythological book Circe.
The movie, starring George Clooney and directed by the Coen brothers, is a satirical reimagining of Homer's The Odyssey. Clooney's character and his band of escaped convicts depart on an epic adventure to get back home to his wife, much like the classical character, Odysseus. The film features a Grammy Award-winning bluegrass soundtrack and co-stars John Turturro, Holly Hunter, and John Goodman.
With help from the Civil Air Patrol and volunteers, cars will be positioned 6-feet apart to maintain social distancing, and attendees will be asked to remain at their on vehicles.
UR Chef Nac Food Truck will be on site where they will serve food that has been pre-ordered. Details are available when you reserve your ticket on Eventbrite.
Tickets are free for this first event, and are first-come first-reserve to 100 people. Future events will depend on the success of this one, so we ask all attendees to respect the guidelines in place to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time. The Nacogdoches CVB is planning to expand our drive-in experiences to offer entertainment outside of movies, such as live music or comedy shows.
