Longtime resident and SFA professor Bert Rees loved all things Christmas. Growing up in the Rees house meant decked out Holiday décor both inside and out. He loved it so much he and his family created the Bert Rees Lighting Contest to spread Christmas cheer throughout the town.

The Rees Family hosts this annual contest to encourage Nacogdoches residents and businesses to "Light up Nacogdoches!" and bring joy to all who visit. Cash prizes and gift certificates to local businesses are up for grabs, and entry is free!
