The Nacogdoches Federation of Women’s Clubs will soon open their iconic red doors to welcome visitors and special guests to the historic Old Nacogdoches University Building. The OUB, which was shuttered for eight months, has been completely refurbished, both inside and out, and handicapped accommodations, including an elevator to the second floor, have been added.
Join Federation members on October 27th at 10 a.m. for the Open House and Ribbon Cutting. Enjoy light refreshments while visiting with Sam Houston (Brad Maule) and Thomas Jefferson Rusk (Bill Small). Both men had historic connections to the building. They will have interesting things to share during the event!
This grand reopening event is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Nacogdoches Federation of Women’s Clubs, local businesses, donations and the dedication of countless volunteers who have worked tirelessly to restore this beloved structure.
The Old University Building is a Texas State Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. It has also been recognized by the Nacogdoches Historic Landmark Commission. Learn more about rentals and events at olduniversitybuilding.com
